Dawn service on Easter morning

Alleluia! Christ is risen! ..... He is risen indeed! Alleluia! - is how the early risers on Easter morning greeted each other and the rest of Lancashire from Mellor Moor. Archdeacon John led forty of us in a short service in church in darkness, and then up the hill to give thanks for Christ's resurrection. He even 'phoned a congregation doing the same as us on Blackpool beach but it turned out they weren't quite as early risers as us, as their service wasn't due to start till 06.30! The service over, we returned to the narthex for bacon rolls and "fizz", generously provided by Archdeacon John, to enliven the celebration! Thanks to those stalwarts who provided our breakfast - it was great! The Dawn service seems to grow in popularity year by year - and we thank Archdeacon John for leading us - for the third year I think?Take a look at the slideshow in our "Photo album"
