Christmas with the 'Little Angels'

Jim getting to play 'Jingle Bells'

There were 56 of us at the Christmas Special on 15th December - the youngest being Emilia's little sister born 4 weeks ago.

After admiring the Christmas Crib and Tree(s), we looked for our photographs on the 'Little Angel' tree and played the popular party game 'Pass the Parcel'.

Mrs Marshall brought the children from Class 1 (many of them former 'little angels') who joined us for the telling of the Christmas Story, illustrated with knitted nativity characters, before singing some of the carols they had performed at the Cathedral. We all sang 'Jingle Bells' and 'Rudolf'' with the youngest children accompanying us by shaking bells.

Barbara Lucas explained 'Christingle' to the mums and invited all to take part and come to the service on Christmas Eve.

Janet Slater returned the finished baubles, mugs etc which had been decorated at the November meeting and all the little ones received a card and a tiny glass nativity scene to hang on their tree.

There was just time for refreshments before older brothers and sisters finished school and it was time to go home.

Some special "thank you"s -

Hilda and Irene - for preparing and serving the refreshments

Sonia - for preparing the stars with photographs and writing the children's names

Marie - for the gift of 25 tiny 'Christmas Angel' books

Betty for decorating the tree

Mrs Norah Alcock for her generous gift of sweets and chocolates for the children

and all our 'little angels' who bring their mums, grans, aunties etc to the monthly meetings.

Wishing you all a peaceful and healthy 2010

Margaret and Rita
