Choir Dinner for Frank Ashton

Post date: Apr 15, 2010 10:20:58 AM

The choir recently held a dinner in Frank's on honour at the Millstone Hotel. This was the Choir's own way of saying thanks to Frank for his years of devoted service as our organist and choirmaster.

John Ibbotson - who's own service with the choir goes back almost as long as Frank's - gave an excellent speech recalling memories of Frank and the choir from the past 40 plus years; after which he presented Frank with the choir's farewell gift - a cheque for £860! This extraordinary amount was collected from choir members past and present, and shows the high regard in which Frank is held.

Frank, a little overwhelmed, expressed his thanks and told us of his feelings for the choir at the end of his long service. Margaret Baldwin presented Frank's wife Margaret with a gift, and the whole evening proved a suitable celebration of the end of an era. God bless you Frank and Margaret.
