Carol says 'Thank You' . . . .

I would like to thank everyone who contributed with help and support in the running of the Charity Shop in Blackburn. This help took many guises and we all became experts in sorting, hanging, making tea and not least by being nice and trying to provide a service to all our customers. From what I can gather many of you found it a very rewarding experience. Not only from the wonderful camaraderie that existed between us all but also from the new friendships and the fellowship founded that week. We now realise that for many of the people who came into the shop and purchased our goods we were also providing a very valuable and vital community service.

A special thank you to Hilda Hilton & Graham Tipper (Church Wardens) for allowing the goods to be stored in church. The success of this week was due to the generosity of parishioners in supplying the wide variety of goods for sale. Substantial donations were received and these all helped to swell the funds.

I would also like to say thank you for the beautiful flowers presented to me by Sonia Tipper on behalf of Geoff Peake (PCC Chairman), Hilda Hilton and Graham Tipper. Incidentally, Sonia and Graham worked so hard and put in many, many, many hours which helped this venture to be such a success.

Unfortunately, volunteers were not in abundance which made it very difficult for the few who were so willing and able.

Last, but not least, I must also thank my wonderful husband who supports me so much in all I do. This time it was with the transporting of goods, clearing the shop rubbish, shopping, cooking the meals and listening to the general moans and groans.

In fact, David, for just being there and supporting me in everything I do for St. Mary’s Church, Mellor.

We hope to repeat this experience next year if the PCC agrees. So if you would like to help please let me know and I will put you on my list.
