AQUABOXES

At the last PCC meeting it was decided that Saint Mary’s would fill 2 Aquaboxes over the next few weeks in the same way that we did a few years ago. The boxes cost £50 each and have been funded by Missions donations. The scheme is managed by Rotary International and a large consignment was sent recently to the Haiti earthquake disaster and there is currently a great need for them to assist in the Pakistan flood disaster.

Aquaboxes are large strong plastic boxes which are sent to disaster areas to function as water reservoirs. They are sent with water purification tablets sufficient to produce 1100 litres of safe water. As it would be a waste to send empty boxes we are asked to fill them with the basic requirements for cooking, hygiene and shelter etc. A list of these items, not all of which need to be new, can be found on the notice board in Church. If you can provide any of the items please would you sign the list.

If there are any questions please contact the Churchwardens.
