Amber Chadwick Crowned our Jubilee Rose Queen

The church was full to witness Amber's crowning by Barbara Lucas. Amber looked lovely and Barbara's speech extolled her virtues. Barbara thanked Matilda, our out-going Rose Queen - praising her conduct as Rose Queen and, in particular, that she raised over £1000 for her chosen charity! This year's procession of witness around the village was certainly different - the band having a distinctly New Orleans jazz band feel! Instead of singing the scheduled hymn "One more step" outside Spar, the band led us in singing "Enjoy yourself - it's later than you think!" We took their advice and thoroughly enjoyed the Queen's Diamond Jubilee street party, which followed. Well done and thanks to all who organised the Rose Queen event and street party!
