The children return to school on Monday, 1st November after half-term. There are several extra events taking place this month which create lots of anticipation and excitement amongst the children.

On Friday, 5th November, the Friends of St Mary’s School (FOSMS) will hold the annual Bonfire and Fireworks display on the school field. The barbeque will be served from 5:30 pm and the bonfire will be lit at 6 o’clock. If you have any wood to burn, please bring this on Friday morning and place it near the bonfire site. Everyone is welcome but please do not bring fireworks or sparklers.

The second week in November is a busy time when the football team will be playing in the Ribble Valley Small Schools’ tournament at Whalley on Friday, 12th November. The children will also be attending the annual Autumn Fair on Saturday 13th November. Then, two Year 6 pupils will be representing all the young people in the parish of Mellor when they lay a wreath at the War Memorial on Remembrance Sunday.

The annual Toy Sale will take place on Thursday, 18th November to raise funds for the Christmas parties. If any parishioner has any unwanted toys or games or children’s books, please bring them to school from Monday, 15th November. On Friday, 19th November, we shall be raising funds for Children in Need by wearing something spotty. Lots of extra events for the children to enjoy in November!
