A View from Ripon…..

posted 2 Jan 2018, 08:02 by Richard Jones

Whilst visiting relatives and friends at Christmas time we attended at Annual Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols at St. Mary's Church Mellor.

A warm welcome greeted us, in a church that was very well attended.

The service was beautifully supported by the excellent church choir, who sang seasonal carols splendidly accompanied on the organ.

The village schoolchildren added another musical dimension when young musicians and singers introduced us to a new version of 'The Holly and the Ivy' as well as teaching us how to sing us a new Carol.

To round off the event, we enjoyed coffee and mince pies served by members of the congregation.

A wonderful and traditional way to start our Christmas Festivities, how lucky Mellor parishioners are!

Peter and Barbara Kershaw
