Coronavirus (COVID-19) guidance for churches

posted 3 Apr 2020, 03:24 by Richard Jones

In light of the Government guidance around non-essential contact, the Archbishops of Canterbury and York have issued advice that public worship is suspended until further notice.

 What should churches do now?

Pause normal meetings for worship until further notice in line with Government Advice as a measure to help protect the most vulnerable.

Consider keeping the church open as a place for prayer and contact, with appropriate signage to remind people of the need to keep at least 2 metres apart.

Explore other means of sharing ministry including live streaming.

Encourage everyone to continue to maintain good hygiene and observe social distancing if attending necessary meetings.  Please provide hand gel at entrances and ensure there is a good supply of soap or hand gel in cloakrooms for hand washing. The best way of protecting us from the spread is for everyone to use universal good hygiene, - this means everyone, all the time, which will effectively disrupt the spread of the virus.

Catch it – sneeze into a tissue.

Bin it – bin the tissue.

Kill it – wash your hands.

Do not touch your face unless you’ve washed your hands.

Pastoral visits:

In circumstances where people are self-isolating because they are symptomatic or have been in contact with someone who has been symptomatic, no pastoral visits should be undertaken until their isolation ends. However, do offer phone support.

In circumstances where someone is self-isolating for their protection and a pastoral visit is thought to be necessary, please make sure you follow rigorous health and hygiene practices and maintain social distancing.

Ensure good regular cleaning of surfaces people touch regularly, including such things as door handles, light switches etc.

CHOIR NEWS - JONAH MAN JAZZ

posted 24 Feb 2020, 09:23 by Richard Jones

We invite you to come and join us at the Family Service Sunday, March 15th  2020 at 9.30a.m. when Seb Roberts will be conducting the lively, Pop Cantata JONAH MAN JAZZ written by Michael Hurd.

Seb ( QEGS Head boy ) has been going into St. Mary's School each Wednesday during January and February teaching this 15 minute musical.

Encouraging our links between Church and Day School, our Church Choir are joining together with years 3 and 4 and the Kiddie Choir to perform this short musical.

After the success of last year's performance of Resurrection Rock we look forward to your support once again.

Everyone Welcome            Margaret

WORLD DAY OF PRAYER.

posted 24 Feb 2020, 07:53 by Richard Jones   [ updated 24 Feb 2020, 08:00 ]

We warmly invite you to our World Day of Prayer Service on

 FRIDAY , 6th. MARCH  2020, at 11am.

This year it is  Mellor St. Mary’s turn to host the Service so we do hope that you will be able to come.  Afterwards, there will be a Fellowship Light Lunch, priced £4.00, and all proceeds will be sent for the work of the World Day of Prayer both in this country and abroad.   The Service has been written by our members in Zimbabwe, where life is very difficult, so they really need our support. The Kiddie Choir will be taking part in the Service which makes it extra special and a smiling welcome awaits all who come to  join us. Hope to see you there.

Thank you. Sue Brown.
