Sunday 17th February Notices

Once again Roland challenged a full house of quiz teams with some tough mental gymnastics. All the usual topics were covered from religion to politics via history and food with added anagrams and castle photos to identify!

"Tups and His Amigos" ran out clear winners with 95 points, followed in second place by "Foreign Turf" on 85 with "Upcycle" third on 81 (we wuz robbed! - Ed).

The Spread Eagle once again did a smashing job feeding us with a hotpot supper - for which they very generously did not charge; so adding about £300 to the evening's funds raised for the Church! Many thanks to them and huge thanks to Roland for setting and hosting the quiz and to the Social Committee for organising such an excellent event!

There are currently only three regular lay people introducing our Intercessional prayers. If anyone would like to join the group please speak to Geoff Gill, Margaret Ashton or Graham Tipper who will be able to explain what is needed.

The choir were delighted to be invited to sing at the Mothers' Union 100th Anniversary Service.

Nineteen members attended this special service. We all appreciate the encouraging comments the Congregation give to us. Thank you. If anyone in the Congregation would like to join us please come and have a word with me. We would love to welcome any young girls and boys.

Hello to all our friends.

David and I have been considering a Lent project to support.

The idea being …. every day during Lent, to take an item out of our cupboards suitable for the Blackburn Food Bank. We can also include toiletries and other useful items.

We wondered who else would like to join us in this much needed charity?

Perhaps we could have a weekly collection in Mellor St Mary's Church. David and I will then transport to the depot once a week.

Hopefully, with a little love and lots of faith we could continue this throughout the year too?

Thank you, David and Helen Holroyd
