NEWS

Lent 2020 Study

Preparing followers of Jesus to face persecution is an aspect of discipleship.   In a time when many countries actively suppress the expression of Christian faith, mission, in the context of opposition, is a pressing issue for us to consider.

The recent film, “Silence” directed by Martin Scorsese, dramatizes the severe persecution of Catholic Christians in

17th century Japan.  The film prompts deep questions about Faith, Mission and Suffering.

For further details telephone Fr Roland on the number in the column on the left.

Eucharist and Imposition of Ashes for the United Benefice

posted 1 Feb 2020, 07:20 by Richard Jones

St Mary’s is pleased to host this service, as we begin the season of Lent and prepare ourselves to follow our Lord on his journey to Jerusalem.

The ‘retired’ clergy invite you to share in this discipline so that, in the word of the Lenten Blessing, ‘we may grow in holiness, deny ourselves, take up our cross, and follow him’.

A very warm welcome awaits you. Do come and share in this act of worship !

John Hartley

on behalf of the Clergy
