'Little Angels'
Report of 'Little Angels' Activities 2012
“Little Angels”
Since the
group started in 1998 we have continued to meet at 2.15pm in the
Narthex on the last Tuesday of each month during school term time .
A short, informal assembly is taken by
Margaret and Rita before the children play with toys and the adults enjoy a
chat and a cup of tea prepared by Hilda and Irene.
Our Birthday Party in April Visits of the Reception Class in June and December Celebrating the 2012 Olympic Games and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, Meeting together to explore the themes of growing, light, loving, feelings . . .. . . and taking part in a Nativity “ It’s all about a Baby!”
Our links with St. Mary’s Primary School are strong and we are grateful to Mrs Taylor for her support. All pre school children from birth onwards are welcome to join us each month with their carers. Our aim is to provide an opportunity for adults and children to come to church and share each other’s company in a friendly, informal atmosphere.
We are encouraged by
the regular attendance and support of
parents and grandparents and also, very grateful to Hilda,Irene & Gillian who supply the refreshments.

Olympic Special
After making crowns to wear at the Jubilee celebrations the children decorated our own Olympic Torches. We sang action songs and thought about the ways we move - just like the athletes we can run, jump, hop, dance and throw. . . Mrs McPherson brought her class across to sing a selection of topical songs and the Olympic Torches were passed on to the children to take back to school. We resume our monthly meeting on Tuesday, 25th September at 2.15pm in the Narthex. All preschool children and whoever is looking after them are very welcome. May 2012
We were delighted to welcome 3 chickens to the meeting in March – kindly supplied by Claire Bridge. The Diamond Jubilee will be on our minds when we meet on 22nd May in the Narthex at 2.15pm. All our little princes and princesses will make a crown to wear in readiness for the celebrations. Margaret, Rita, Hilda, Irene & Gillian |
"Two Little Dickey Birds"
The story of the Prodigal Son was told at the All Age Worship so we
continued the theme at the
September meeting.
We thought about birds getting ready to fly to warmer countries for the
winter then returning in the spring.
The children recited the popular rhyme 'Two Little Dickey Birds' and took
home with them two little birds made of card and feathers!
We were pleased to welcome Theo Foster aged 5 weeks - Theo belongs to
Pamela and Chris and is the 3rd grandson of Joan & Ian Moss. He didn't
realise that he had been to 'Little Angels' as he slept throughout the
afternoon.
No meeting in October because school is on half term but twice in November
on the 1st and 29th. |
1,2,3,4,5 'Little Angels' move on . . . .
Tuesday, 28th June was the last meeting for 5 of our children. Emilia, Ellie, Jay, Owen and Zara had attended the first of their induction meetings at school earlier in the day so it was with some excitement that they welcomed Mrs McPherson and the Foundation Stage Class to 'Little Angels'. It was lovely to see some of our former 'Little Angels' who had been in school for a year singing to us - what a difference a year in school makes ! Although, I must say that I found myself sitting on the step with the little ones whilst the 'assembly' was taken by Owen, Emilia, Ellie and Zara. Yes, in the absence or Margaret (who was on a cruise) they introduced the musical welcome and said our little prayer 1,2,3,4,5 Thank you God that I'm alive. Watch out, Mrs McPherson! That's it now until September . . . with thanks to Hilda, Irene and Gillian for their help with refreshments and support. Rita and Margaret |
Our meeting in May
Another birthday at the meeting on 24th May - this time the cake was for Hilda! As we had been asked by the Sunday School teachers if we could prepare something for the All Age Worship we thought about the weather, practised a favourite song "I love the sun" and helped to make weather symbols. Our little presentation was well received by the congregation when the children and parents took part in the service. Our final meeting for this term is on Tuesday, 28th June when we welcome Mrs McPherson and the children from school who will sing to us. We hope to take part in the All Age Worship on 17th July. Wishing everyone happy, sunny, safe holidays Hilda, Irene, Margaret & Rita |
'Little Angels' celebrate Easter
It was appropriate for us to celebrate Easter at our April meeting as we met on Easter Tuesday. We greeted each other in song and thought about Easter 'feelings' - sad/happy. The children hunted for chocolate eggs given to us by Mrs Norah Alcock. The eggs were collected in a basket before being shared out so teaching the children how to 'care and share' ! Thank you, Norah We then admired and held, very gently, 4 chickens brought to church by Claire Bridge. Thank you, Claire As it was 13 years since our first meeting we blew out a candle and cut a cake to celebrate our birthday before playing 'Pass the Parcel' - more lessons here about taking turns - not easy when you are only 2 years old. On the 29th May the Morning Service at 10.30am will be an 'All Age Worship' - we have been asked to take part by singing and saying a prayer. 1 2 3 4 5 - Thank You, God, that I'm alive. |
Daffodils
Margaret reminded us of 'The Big Day Out' to be held at Farmer Parr's near Fleetwood on Saturday, 21st May. 1,2,3,4,5 - Thank you God that I'm alive..... |
Amy brings Poppy to 'Little Angels'
The children learned that Poppy is 4 years old, eats anything and everything, sleeps on Gemma's bed and wags her tail when she is happy! Our next meeting is on Tuesday, 29th March at 2.15pm in the Narthex. |
God always listens . . .
We were delighted to welcome two 'new' babies to our January meeting, Charlotte ( 6 weeks ) with her mum, Helen and Joanne with Thomas ( 3 weeks ). Fortunately, both babies were very quiet as we explored 'sounds around us', using our voices and shaking bells to make different sounds. We then thought about listening before ending our 'thoughtful' time with Margaret's favourite prayer 'God always listens'. God always listens whenever we pray He's never too busy to hear what we say So, we will say thank you for what each day brings Children to play with and many good things. We meet again on Tuesday, 22nd February at 2.15pm in the Narthex. As this falls during half term we hope to see some older brothers and sisters, as well as our 'little angels'. |
