Sunday 3 August TODAY Commemoration Service for the First World War A service to commemorate the start of the Great War will be held at Blackburn Cathedral at 4.00 pm. 

Monday 4 August

Benefice Office Hour 6.00 - 7.00 pm at the Vicarage, Mellor, for discussion of arrangements for Baptisms, Weddings, or any other spiritual matter.

United Benefice WW1 Commemoration Vigil – St Mary’s will be open from 7.30pm to commemorate the outbreak of the First World War.  Everyone is most welcome to attend at any time during the hour that the church will be open. There will be no service, but a Commemorative Candle – specially commissioned by the Diocese will be lit. Please be mindful that we wish this time to be a time for silent prayer and meditation.

 

 

Tuesday 5 August

Coffee Morning 10.00 – 11.30 am.

 

Wednesday 6 August

Choir Practice – No choir practice this week.  These will resume in September.

 

NEWS

Annual Church Barbecue – the total raised is now £2050 thanks to recent generous donations.

 

 

Raffle prizes - Two raffle prizes from the barbecue are still unclaimed, Green 266 and Green 321.

DATES FOR YOUR DIARY

Tuesday 12 August Mothers’ Union 7.30 pm in the Day School.  The speaker will be Marjorie Holt: ‘A Funny Thing Happened on the Way’.

 

 

Saturday 23 August United Benefice Midsummer Meet – family day at Brockholes  12.30pm – 4.30pm.  Come along and join the fun, bring a picnic. All children to be accompanied by an adult, car park charges apply. For more information please contact Karen Walsh or Debbie Chadwick.
