Father Peter’s biography:
“Fr Peter was born in England but went to New Zealand
aged 16 and became a New Zealander. Following University, he worked
for the Rothmans Sports Foundation, travelling the world as an
advisor. This was followed by 25 years of teaching sports in New Zealand,
during which he was ordained as a non-stipendary priest. Among many
other things, he successfully raced power boats and coached and refereed
rugby – a far cry from being a monk ! Returning to the UK in 1990 for a month, family matters intervened and he taught in London for a while before becoming a stipendary priest. Further work overseas (Greece)
followed anf then he joined the Society of St John the Evangelist
(Cowley Fathers), the oldest of the Anglican Monastic Orders and in 2002
was elected Superior.
His work involves teaching and preaching in a variety of ways, working
with ordinands, spiritual counseling and generally being available
however people want to us him”.
Notes for the weekend
Father Peter Huckle will lead us through a day of reflection on
Saturday, and a time of worship on Sunday. Our spiritual needs are in
good hands!
We must also look after our bodies. On Saturday please
bring your own packed lunch. Tea, coffee and juice will be available.
To help with planing, can you sign the list at the back of church to
indicate your attendance.
On Sunday. A Bring and Share Lunch is proposed, to follow
the celebration of the Eucharist at 10.30 a.m. Anyone and everyone is
welcome to come along to the Memorial Hall for 12.30 p.m.
To ensure a balance of sweet and savoury dishes, please can you
add your name to this list at the back of church, to indicate what you
would like to contribute. That way, we hope to avoid an over-abundance
of quiches and no desserts, for instance!
Bring and Share, Jacob`s Join, call it what you will.
We very much hope it will be a Faith Lunch in every sense.
