Benefice Office Hour 6.00 - 7.00 pm at the Vicarage, Mellor, for discussion of arrangements for Baptisms, Weddings, or any other spiritual matter.

Tuesday 9 July

‘Have you been served?’ talk by Mrs Marjorie Holt to Mothers’ Union at 7.30 pm in the Day School.  All are welcome to this open meeting to raise money for the Roof Appeal.  A hot supper will be served.  Tickets: £5 from Pam Jackson, Hilda Hilton, or Margaret Ashton.

NEWS

The coffee morning held at the Community Centre on Saturday 29 June raised £174 in aid of the Roof Appeal.  Many thanks to all who supported the event, Hilda & Joan.

 

We have now received several items for inclusion in the Book of Recipes and Household Hints and are hoping to have received all by the end of July. Please leave your favourite recipes in the box in the foyer.  Thank you.

DATES FOR YOUR DIARY

Friday 19 July The Annual Village BBQ will be held this year at Myre Ash House by kind permission of Alan & Maureen Bell.  Tickets, priced at £12.50, are available from any member of the Social & Fundraising Committee.  Friday 13 September An Autumn Quiz will be held in the day school in support of the Church Roof Appeal.

Friday 4 October 7.00 for 7.30 pm. A Fund Raising Dinner for the Church Roof Appeal is to be held at the Millstone Hotel.  The theme will be ‘A Lancashire Night’ and the cost will be £20 for Lancashire Hot Pot, apple pie and coffee.  Guest speaker and raffle.  Anyone interested please contact Geoff Peake, tel. 813654.  A few good raffle prizes would be appreciated.

 

Thursday 10 October The consecration of Archdeacon Julian as Bishop of Blackburn will be held at York Minster.

Friday 18 October ‘Last Night of the Proms’ in Church, in support of the Church Roof Appeal.

Saturday 19 October The inauguration of Archdeacon Julian as Bishop of Blackburn will be held at 11am in Blackburn Cathedral.  More details will be announced when they are available.
