Choir Practice – No choir practice this week.  These will resume in September.

 

NEWS

Annual Church Barbecue – This was a very enjoyable occasion, helped by excellent weather. Thank you to Alan and Maureen Bell who hosted the event and to everyone who worked so hard to make it a success. A total of £1884.50 was raised for church funds to help us meet our everyday running costs.

 

 

Raffle prizes - Two raffle prizes from the barbecue are still unclaimed, Green 266 and Green 321.

DATES FOR YOUR DIARY

Sunday 3 August Commemoration Service for the First World War A service to commemorate the start of the Great War will be held at Blackburn Cathedral at 4.00 pm. 

Monday 4 August United Benefice WW1 Commemoration Vigil – St Mary’s will be open from 7.30pm to commemorate the outbreak of the First World War.  Everyone is most welcome to attend at any time during the hour that the church will be open. There will be no service, but a Commemorative Candle – specially commissioned by the Diocese will be lit.

Please be mindful that we wish this time to be a time for silent prayer and meditation.

 

Tuesday 12 August Mothers’ Union 7.30 pm in the Day School.  The speaker will be Marjorie Holt: ‘A Funny Thing Happened on the Way’.

Saturday 23 August United Benefice Midsummer Meet – family day at Brockholes  12.30pm – 4.30pm.  Come along and join the fun, bring a picnic. All children to be accompanied by an adult, car park charges apply. For more information please contact Karen Walsh or Debbie Chadwick.
