8.00 am Eucharist As Amma Sue is on annual leave there will be no 8.00 am Eucharist until Monday 2 September.

Now that the workmen have left us, A BIG CLEAN UP is planned for next week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.  Morning, afternoon or evening: dates and times to suit all individual needs!  Cleaning guidelines for all areas of the church are listed on a sheet in the Narthex.  Please see Rita or Hilda to arrange dates & times.

 

St Mary’s Repair Appeal Autumn Quiz: 13 September in School Tickets, £5 each, are now available from Debbie Summersgill, Jean Freeman, Rita Gorman and Sonia Tipper.

DATES FOR YOUR DIARY

Friday 6 September 'Church Cleaners on the March' - a sponsored walk around the village will start from church at 6.30 pm.  All cleaners are welcome to take part in this event to raise funds for the Repair Appeal.  Non-walkers are invited to come to church to prepare and share a pizza supper at the end of the walk.  Further details from Rita 812566.

Saturday 7 September 10.00 – 3.30 pm.  ‘How to Train the New Vicar!’  United Benefice Away Day at St Cuthbert's Church, Fulwood.  All welcome!  However experienced a priest might be there is still a lot to learn especially when there are three churches to look after! The day is designed so that each of the three churches can say who they are, what they hope for, and how that will benefit the churches and Amma Sue.  No-one is put 'on the spot' or is expected to make speeches, and everyone can join in! The day will be led by Rev’d Richard Impey, a very experienced trainer and looks set to be an enjoyable and informative 'day out'! Please bring a packed lunchIf you wish to attend please sign the list in the Narthex so that transport can be arranged.

 

Friday 13 September 7.30 pm.  A special Autumn Quiz is to be held in aid of the Church Repairs Appeal. Tickets will be £5 each and include Hot Pot Supper; there will be a Bar and a raffle.

Friday 4 October 7.00 for 7.30 pm. A Fund Raising Dinner for the Church Roof Appeal is to be held at the Millstone Hotel.  The theme will be ‘A Lancashire Night’ and the cost will be £20 for Lancashire Hot Pot, apple pie and coffee.  Guest speaker and raffle.  Anyone interested please contact Geoff Peake, tel. 813654.  A few good raffle prizes would be appreciated.

Thursday 10 October The consecration of Archdeacon Julian as Bishop of Blackburn will be held at York Minster.

Friday 18 October ‘Last Night of the Proms’ in Church, in support of the Church Roof Appeal.

Saturday 19 October The inauguration of Archdeacon Julian as Bishop of Blackburn will be held at 11am in Blackburn Cathedral.  More details will be announced when they are available.
