Mission and Evangelism for the Perplexed - an open Deanery Synod meeting for ALL church members. Presentation and discussion, 7.00 pm for 7.20 pm at St James’ Clitheroe. This is an important subject for the life of the Church and our United Benefice so please do come along - YOUR INPUT IS VITAL!

Samlesbury PALS Group are holding a ladies’ Afternoon Tea in the Grill Room at the New Samlesbury Hotel.  It will commence at 3.00 pm and costs £11.50 per head. If you wish to go, please contact Grace Redmayne (01772 877307).


Mellor Village Quiz will be held this year on Friday 13 February in the school hall starting at 7.30 pm. Tickets are £6.50 each and will include a meat and potato pie supper.  Quizmaster this year will be Rev’d Roland Nicholson. There will be a bar serving wine, beer and soft drinks.  All proceeds will go to St Mary's Church.  Tickets are available from any member of the Social & Fundraising Committee, or Rita Gorman 812566/Jean Freeman 812366.

FOSMS News The School Disco will be held on Friday 6 February from 7.15 to 9.00 pm for years 1 to 7.  There is a £2.50 entry fee which includes a hot dog or veggie sausage, unlimited juice, and fruit.  Sweets and glow bracelets will be also available to buy on the night.  The top two disco dancers will each receive a £5 voucher.  The next FOSMS Meeting will take place on Wednesday 4 March in school at 7.30 pm.  All welcome.


Friends of Chernobyl (FOCC) Can you help?  FOCC is run by volunteers who raise funds to bring children over to Blackburn to visit host families.  The next visit is in June when twelve children will be arriving from Belarus.  To boost fundraising the charity shop on Lord Street West in Blackburn has been booked for half-term week 16 – 21 February.  We need to fill the shop with bric-a-brac, books, good quality clothing, un-wanted Christmas presents - in fact anything we can resell apart from electrical items.  Please could you hand in donations at the shop ideally on Monday 16 February or at any time later in the week.

Saturday 7 February Coffee Morning 10.00 am to raise money for East Lancashire Hospice in memory of recent lost loved ones, at St. Marys Court Community Centre.  £1/adult, children free. Bacon/sausage butties on sale, raffle, cake stall and toy sale.


Friday 13 February Mellor Village Quiz 7.30 pm in the school hall.

Wednesday 18 February Ash Wednesday Service will be held at Balderstone this year. Timing and details to be confirmed.
