Commemoration Service for the First World War  A service to commemorate the start of the Great War will be held at Blackburn Cathedral at 4.00 pm on Sunday 3 August.  Everyone is welcome and details are on the notice board.  If you wish to attend, please sign the list in the narthex by Tuesday 15 July.

FOSMS update – Thank you for coming along to join in the fun at the FOSMS Brazilian themed Gala Day.  We raised a total of £2450, all of which goes to the school children.  We have been able to provide 22 IPads which will ensure all the children from each year group will have access and keep up to date with the latest technology.  Also this week was the school sports day after which we served refreshments, many thanks to the year 2 parents who provided these.

DATES FOR YOUR DIARY

Monday 4 August United Benefice WW1 Commemoration Vigil – St Mary’s will be open from 7.30pm to commemorate the outbreak of the First World War.  Everyone is most welcome to attend at any time during the hour that the church will be open. There will be no service, but a Commemorative Candle – specially commissioned by the Diocese will be lit.

Tuesday 12 August Mothers’ Union 7.30 pm in the Day School.  The speaker will be Marjorie Holt: ‘A Funny Thing Happened on the Way’.

 

 

Saturday 23 August United Benefice Midsummer Meet – family day at Brockholes  12.30pm – 4.30pm.  Come along and join the fun, bring a picnic. All children to be accompanied by an adult, car park charges apply. For more information please contact Karen Walsh or Debbie Chadwick.
