Blackburn Summer Lunch Box Project

Mellor St. Mary's  M.U. and P.C.C. members were busy preparing ham, cheese and tuna sandwiches for the Blackburn Summer Lunch Box project, July/August. Catering for 1500 children who receive free school meals.
This photo shows us with Mrs. Gill Ireland, Action & Outreach Co-ordinator for the Blackburn Diocese and Mrs Hilary Mercer Team Leader from the Methodist Church taking a break at 8a.m. one very hot, sunny morning during August.

We have been going down to town just after 7a.m. every day during the school holidays. It really gets addictive. But so well organised. Children get a sandwich, water, crisps and raisins.

Today we were back home just after 9a.m.  Archdeacon Mark Ireland was there but he'd gone before we took a break to take the photo.
